52 YEAR-OLD FARMER, TWICE SARPANCH COMMITS SUICIDE DUE TO FAULTY UNION & STATE GOVERNMENTS’ POLICIES

As per the reports published in the daily The Hitavada dated 2nd July 2011, a progressive farmer Subhash Baliram Kharode (52 yrs) from village Raundala hanged self near Vasantrao Naik Vidyalaya due to the policies of the Union and the State Governments. Police recovered the dying declaration of the deceased farmer on a stamp paper blaming the government for faulty policies.

Late Subhash Baliram Kharode was elected twice as Village Sarpanch (Head) and had successfully implemented “Jalswarjya Scheme” at the village. As per the report, the deceased was worried and tense about negligible rates being fixed by the government for agriculture produce. He hanged self and his body was found hanging from a neem tree near the school. He declared on the stamp paper that he took the drastic step due to the wrong policies of governments and that the governments of the Union and the State are responsible for his suicide.

The deceased leaves behind a son and a daughter to mourn his demise. One wonders, if the police will take up the case against the Union and the State Governments to provide justice to the deceased farmer... will the PM of India & the CM of Maharastra stand on the trial for murder of a farmer?
